The James Tuttiett Charitable Trust providing some of the additional funds required to create a new support group for 50 families in the Meon Valley.
The donated funds have helped establish a local family support group, run by an experienced member of staff supported by trained volunteers to deliver ongoing 12-week programmes for up to 12 local families at a time. The group provides emotional and practical support, including activities to build confidence, resilience, manage well-being and provide general parenting advice. Each session focuses on a specific challenge young families face, such as social isolation, mental health and wellbeing, navigating local support services, the cost of living, and developing strategies to manage when feeling overwhelmed. Parents are gently encouraged to share common experiences in a safe non-judgmental space and in return receive support and guidance from staff, trained volunteers and their peers. Over the twelve sessions, families are helped to build connections in the local community that they can continue to access for support, which will aid them in sustaining positive change and reduce their feelings of isolation.
