Launched in 2019, work began with Plantlife to support a series of projects to extend pollinator corridors. Together they have developed implementation and management plans to restore over 60 hectares of habitat, helping to increase connectivity in the corridors promoted by national charity Buglife. Many of the projects will be using a seedmix specially designed for the South Downs by Plantlife working with local seed provider, Bartholomews. The project includes the restoration of over 20km of hedgerows within the Selbourne and Winchester farm clusters and also supported hedge laying volunteering for 16 to 24 year olds, increasing young people’s engagement in the environment.

Bees and Seas connects and supports pollinators, parks and people to enhance the ecological network between the sea and the South Downs by renovating a degraded industrial area of parkland. Local people were engaged in creative and arts based activities to redesign the Brooklands site through a series of fun vocational and educational events, bringing together communities from all backgrounds in their local environment. The project created a volunteer, nature and education hub which generated new areas of chalk grassland, vegetated shingle, pollinator habitat, a medicinal herb garden and an orchard.
