It’s been 2 years since the start of the pandemic and we’re starting to see the impact it’s had within our communities. Many people were unable to visit the dentist regularly during this time however the scale of neglect amongst the homeless community has been much more significant.
We’ve been supporting homeless people in the local community since 2011 primarily through The Winchester Beacon and we feel there is a need for further support within this specific area of dental health.
As such we’ve made a donation to Dentaid, a local charity who provide free dental care for homeless and vulnerable people, using mobile units and volunteer dentists. Our support will enable 25 homeless people in Winchester to receive full medical assessments, treatment and an ongoing care plan to ensure consistent oral health monitoring.
