HIWWT Rewilding Network Launch

The JTCT was delighted to attend the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Rewilding Network launch on 28 April 2023 held at Wilder Little Duxmore and Wilder Nunwell. The day started with a series of informative presentations followed by tours of both Wilder Little Duxmore and Wilder Nunwell.  The day was a great success with some important discussions sparked and a huge amount of enthusiasm for rewilding and the benefits it can achieve for nature.  It was a great opportunity to connect with likeminded enthusiasts and to share knowledge and experiences.

Rewilding is a key technique for restoring habitats, reconnecting the landscape and supporting wildlife, whilst not suitable for all land it is an essential part of the work the Trust does.  An important part of rewilding is the implementation of a comprehensive ecological and environmental monitoring programme, which utilises robust and quantitative data collection techniques. In addition to this, a fundamental component of rewilding is appropriate management to support and restore natural processes and ecosystem functioning, such as conservation grazing.

Hampshire & Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust is well-positioned to provide expert-led nature-based solutions and rewilding survey and advice services. They are a solution-focussed team with expertise in ecological surveying, habitat management, conservation grazing, forestry management, environmental permitting, and public engagement.
